NCTC's 2008 Summer Theatre Arts Program
|
The Program...
This unique all-day four-week program is a great opportunity for students ages 8-14 who have an interest in
Musical Theatre or the Performing Arts! No previous experience or prior training is necessary. Our young
performers will study acting, voice, improvisation, dance, and theatre crafts, as well as rehearsing for and
performing in for our grand finale, a production of "HOw to Eat Like a Child." This musical romp
through the joys and sorrows of being a child explores 23 lessons in such subjects as how to beg for a dog,
how to torture your sister, how to act after being sent to your room, and how to laugh hysterically. The pace is
fast, the tone subversive, and the recognition instant. This show features a large singing, dancing, and acting
ensemble cast that will showcase the talents of the entire group.
The Classes...
Each day, our students will have the opportunity to study all aspects of musical theatre. They will work in
small age-appropriate groups to ensure personal attention. The daily courses include acting, vocal
performance, dance, and theatre-related crafts. The performers will work together as a company for
afternoon rehearsals taught by professionally-trained performers.
The Production...
Our four-week program will culminate with a musical production of "How to Eat Like a Child" open to
the public and starring all of our young performers. The show will be performed in our own theatre on
Thursday, July 24, Friday, July 25, Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27.
